IBAN (International Bank Account Number):

  • Components: Includes country code, check digits, bank identifier, and bank account number.

  • Usage: Primarily in Europe and other countries that adopt the IBAN standard.

  • Length: Up to 34 characters, varies by country.

  • Example: DE89 3704 0044 0532 0130 00

Bank Account Number:

  • Components: A unique number specific to the bank and account holder.

  • Usage: Common in countries like the United States, where IBAN is not used.

  • Length: Varies by country and bank.

  • Example: 123456789 (often used with a routing number in the US).

Is IBAN Used Everywhere?

No, while IBAN is essential for many transactions in Europe, it is not commonly used everywhere. Countries outside Europe, especially in North America and Asia, typically rely on their own standard bank account numbering systems

Important Note: If your country uses IBAN, you must provide the IBAN. If not, you need to provide the account number.
